P.R Venketrama Raja, 64, is a Chemical Engineer from the University of Madras and a Post Graduate in Business Management from the University of Michigan, USA. Son of Late Mr. P.R. Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha, he succeeded his father as the Chairman of Ramco Group in June 2017. Started in 1938, Ramco Group today is a US$ 1.53 billion industrial conglomerate, globally recognized for its quality products and services.
He is the Managing Director of The Ramco Cements Limited, the Founder of Ramco Systems Limited, and Chairman of Ramco Industries Limited. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) conferred on him the ‘Global Influencer of the Year’ award in 2016.
He established Ramco Systems in 1997 with a mission to create a world-class information technology company focused on enterprise applications and emerging technologies. Ramco Systems is today one of the top 100 enterprise solution providers in the world.
He was instrumental in establishing the first Export Oriented Unit of Spinning Mills in South India, exporting high-quality yarn to M/s. Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan, as well as pioneering the Open-End Yarn in India.
He firmly believes in the social development of communities and this is reflected in the Ramco Group’s Social Welfare activities. The group runs many educational institutions including Ramco Institute of Technology, Polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutes, and Schools, to impart quality education to all sections of society, especially underprivileged children. Over 20,000 students pass out every year from the several institutions maintained by the Group.
